چکیده
DESCRIPTION A 56-year-old woman was admitted with 17% total body surface area deep burns. Intubated en route to the hospital for possible inhalation injury and remained intubated for 9 days due to her underlying pulmonary history. Her hospital course was complicated by an occipital lesion discovered during a routine dressing change (Fig 1).

Hair braids as a risk factor for occipital pressure ulcer development: a case study.
The development of pressure ulcers in acute care settings remains an important concern, especially in high-risk populations such as patients who are critically ill and admitted to an ICU setting. In addition to immobility and other risk factors associated with critical illness, occipital pressure ulcer development has been associated with young age (neonates, infants, and young children) and pa...
متن کاملThe effects of foot massage on physiologic indicators in critically ill patients
The perpuse of this research is to determine the effect of foot massage on physiologic indicators including pulse, respiration and mean arterial pressure. The hypothesis of this research is that foot massage decreases the patient´s heart rate, respiratory rate and mean arterial pressure. This research is a quasiexperimental study and a self-control clinical trial with repeated measures in witch...

متن کاملPharmacokinetic Behavior of Theophylline following PEEP in Critically Ill Patients with Acute Lung Injury
The effect of Positive End Expiratory Pressure (PEEP) on the hepatic elimination of low to moderate extraction ratio drugs has not been clearly defined. We prospectively investigated the effect of PEEP on the clearance of theophylline in 30 (20 males and 10 females) intubated critically ill adult patients with acute lung injury/acute respiratory distress syndrome (ALI/ARDS). The Mean (±SD) age ...
